The main work, a lifelike nude woman in her prime sitting on her bed, looking at her crotch with a mirror, causes irritation. Especially in the context of the exhibition title and the name of the cycle of works "Mother". Is it the artist's mother or mistress? Or is she representative of the female human race, which is present to us all at least as a mother. Is this verism simply a portrait or an homage?

Ellinor Euler's colorful metal webs - seemingly floating or lying in the air - conquer the space and form an organic counterpoint to the sober coolness and geometric functional architecture of the KioskShop.

The mining of minerals and stones has many negative connotations and is the source of much political and geographic upheaval. It is a reflection of the human impulse to exploit the land we roam; to place immediate economic and political interests above long-term environmental and communal planning. In Opencast, Cuban artist Elizabet Cerviño applies this juxtaposition to create a body of work that does not look to exploit nature but rather commune with it.

Bode is pleased to present Embrace: Path to Growth and Contentment, Cinthia Sifa Mulanga's first European solo show. The artist investigates the individual’s relationship with space, ultimately exploring moments in time in which a person’s inner and outer worlds meet. Mulanga’s works engage with the world outside of domestic settings; the scenes depicted through the windows of the pieces are reflective of hope, a gentle optimism about the future and desire for exploration and expansion.

Soil summarizes themes that characterize Jackob-Marks' work: Soil, Earth (world, planet), Ground (cause). The exhibition focuses on one of the painter's guiding genres, landscape from the '80s to the present. To distance from representational depiction in current works means not a turn toward abstraction but a progressive intensification of her ceaseless search for the essence of being: Where do I come from? Why am I in the world? What is the unity of the cosmos?

The swedish Olle Baertling (1911–1981) was very present in the art scene of the 1950s/1960s. A selection of his non-figurative paintings executed 1953–1974 will be on show with us. The younger german Gerhard von Graevenitz (1934–1983) will be present with early "structures" (1959/60) and four kinetic objects made 1975–78.

Myriam El Haïk explores the topos of landscape in this exhibition. The artist approaches the subject through the sensations that a landscape evokes in her. The emotional space designed in this way in drawings and paintings is also reminiscent of the patterns of carpets, which the artist perceives as landscapes that are experienced physically as well as tangible. Her painterly works are supported by musical compositions in the exhibition.
